Detailed Description
This unique book was written for people with autism and other developmental disabilities in order to foster and encourage independent living skills in the kitchen. Visual learners and those without reading skills can follow step-by-step recipes depicted through clear photographs and pictograms to achieve independence and confidence. Every one of the 35 recipes is highly broken down and gives clear, step-by-step instructions through visual directions. The cookbook calls for basic ingredients or brand name products to create seven breakfast foods, eleven lunch, five side dishes, four snacks, five desserts and three drinks. The recipes entail anywhere from seven steps for how to slice an apple to 36 steps for how to make Banana Muffins from scratch. The vibrant photographs and color-coded examples teach to the students strengths while the detailed instructions support their deficits and difficulties. The layout and clear images used in the book enable a young learner to get into the kitchen and, even if they are simply putting ingredients into a bowl, help make something for themselves and others to enjoy. The independence and confidence that come with the students success in mastering the recipes and the tasks that they entail is rapid if not instantaneous. Visual Recipes has been warmly received by top professionals in the field of Autism Research today, among them Temple Grandin, Elizabeth King Gerlack and Gary Mesibov, PhD.

Not really what I expected. I expected it to have recipes that where for younger students in it. Wished each new recipe was on it own page, not back of previous.
