Detailed Description
PECS is a unique augmentative, alternative communication training system developed for use with children and adults with a wide variety of communicative disorders. The system allows children a means of communication within a social context. Children using PECS are taught to approach and give a picture of a desired item to a communicative partner in exchange for that item. By doing so, the child initiates a communicative act for a concrete outcome within a social context. PECS can be used in a variety of settings, including the home, classroom and community. This manual contains all the information you need on how to set up a PECS program and includes instructions for constructing the pictures, discrimination training tips and data sheets.
