Detailed Description
The FACES CD uses hip rap and rock songs to help kids ages 5 to 14 discuss the typical social challenges that children with autism face. Developed by an SLP, the songs use a built in cuing system utilizing repetition and familiar phrases to help children with autism remember what to do in social situations. Targeting skills such as eye contact, remembering names, staying focused, and avoiding meltdowns, children will quickly remember the lyrics to these fun and age-appropriate songs. Teachers and parents will love this CD as it demonstrates a positive way to discuss social issues and provides a way to prompt these skills without having to do so directly. The age-appropriate songs are sung by kids with autism, their siblings and the instructors who work with them. Both karaoke and full lyric versions are provided. The CD also includes comic strip conversations with The Expressions - the group of kids that sing the songs that can be reviewed by teachers and parents as they utilize the songs. While targeted for kids with autism, parents and teachers will find that all kids will enjoy and can benefit from having RAD social skills.
