Detailed Description
While most children understand groupings of basic categories, such as toys, food and pets, at an early age, children with auditory processing problems and weak language skills do not seem to "pick up" on subtle similarities and differences without one-to-one instruction to get them started. This book is intended to give them a good foundation in understanding how subtle similarities can change and build new categories within a larger group. Children will learn that one object, animal or person can be part of numerous groupings and classifications. This important skill of "grouping" is essential to mastering higher-level language skills. Questions include "An elephant is heavy. Circle two other things that are heavy" and "Apples grow on trees. Circle something that does not grow on trees" and so on.

120 pages, recommended for mainstream PreK-2nd Grade.

This is part of a series of workbooks designed to meet the needs of students who are ready for more academic-based skills but still need a little extra guidance. Every book focuses on a particular skill set that is critical to higher learning. All the books contain a series of reproducible worksheets for students that are accompanied by highly detailed instructor's notes on how to implement each activity. They contain auditory directions to be read aloud to students, directing them on how to proceed, making these user-friendly books a vital part of your child's academic program, both at home and at school. By Jean Gilliam DeGaetano with illustrations by Kevin N. Newman.
